The CINVE organization has just published the list of award winners for 2023. With more than 95 points out of 100, a total of 13 still wines, 7 fortified or special wines and 4 sparkling wines out of the more than 700 wines submitted to this 19th edition of the competition have been awarded a Gran Oro prize, the highest distinction of the contest. The origin of the award-winning wines is varied, with wines from different Autonomous Communities and even from other countries such as Peru, France or Australia, but with a clear predominance of wines from Galicia and Castilla León among the still wines, from Andalusia in the fortified wines and with an overwhelming majority of Catalan wines among the sparkling wines. In addition, a total of 72 wines have been awarded Gold, with scores between 90 and 94’99.

The members of the jury unanimously agreed that the wines in the competition were of outstanding quality, which led to a greater number of Gold and Grand Gold awards and forced the Silver Awards to be raised to 86.8 points, instead of the 85 previously established, so that the total number of award winners would not exceed 30 percent of the wines presented, an unbreakable rule of CINVE’s conditions.

For greater equanimity and balance in the scores, during the three days of tasting, the composition of the tasting panel tables varied in each session.

At the medal gala, to be held in June in Madrid, the GRAN CINVE awards will be unveiled, which go to the Gran Oro with the highest score in each category. As a novelty this year , in honor of the late President and Founder of this international competition, the GRAN CINVE JESÚS GUIRAU will be awarded to a winery, whose name will be announced on the same evening, especially noted for its history in the sector and its commitment to CINVE.

The 5th International Sake and Schochus Competition will be held at the end of September in Madrid, together with the First International Beer Competition.
